So last night while my ballet teacher wanted to get our feet warmed up and ready for barre, she informed us that we have 52 bones in our feet, but most of us will only ever use as many as THREE in a day, or even in our lifetime. Most importantly, our feet have the capacity to function as intricately and accurately as our hands do. Now THAT is fucking crazy. could you imagine being able to maneuver your feet with total control in the way you do your hands?
Here’s a few tips to help you get stronger, better functiong feet:
-go barefoot as much as possible, it will require your feet to adapt to changing surfaces and therefore require your feet to use more of the bones it has.
-try to alternate the pair of shoes you wear as much as possible. if you have one favorite pair of shoes that you wear every day, your foot will only know one surface and therefore only use the same bones, in the same way, every day.
-Heres my favorite: Walk on the beach as often as possible. Walking on the sand is great for your feet because it requires ALL of your bones to work in order to adapt to the soft, constantly changing surface. Think about walking on the sand and the feeling of your toes maneuvering to get their grip. Already youre getting more movement in your toes than you would by just walking in those pair of sandals on the sidewalk.
Well that was all really random but i really liked learning about it, so i thought i could share! Take care of your feet! They can take you pretty far ;)
